Businesses advised to buy comfortable chairs
People who are setting up an office have been advised to consider issues such as the comfort of their chair.
According to AGR, a German company which focuses on healthy backs, many people fail to consider the ergonomic merits of seats in the workplace. The organisation said this is a particularly important issue for employees who spend much of their time sat down in front of a PC. Therefore, it has advised businesses to make sure they purchase a good office chair and a desk of an appropriate height.
Detlef Detjen, spokesperson for AGR, commented: "A healthy PC workspace will have a desk at a height of between 62 and 79 centimetres." This comes after the British Osteopathic Association recommended that workers who sit at a desk all day should sit in various positions throughout the day.
The group said making sure their backs are close to the back of the chair would be a good idea, as well as not leaning forwards to look at their computer screen.
