Printer manufacturers aim to improve reliability
Consumers who purchase new printers could benefit from purchasing devices built by companies with good technical support channels. According to Loella Fernandes of Quocirca, manufacturers are increasingly aiming to create devices which are unlikely to malfunction at any point.
Writing for Silicon.com, she said that as part of this strategy, they are investing in preventative action - solving any problems before they trouble the consumer.
Ms Ferdandes stated that this method of working is not only proving to be good for the manufacturer, but is making life easier for the consumer as well. This, she said, is important because the devices are a valuable tool, particularly in the workplace. "Though not the sexiest hardware, printers are a key office resource," Ms Fernandes commented.
A recent study by PC World magazine rated printers manufactured by Canon as some of the most reliable models on the market.
