Businesses tipped to go green
The financial crisis could prompt a greater number of businesses in the UK to adopt more green practices, experts have stated.
According to the British Council for Offices (BCO), companies are turning to environmentally friendly methods because it is helping them to save money. The organisation said that the take-up of green practices has not been dented by the problems in the economy, partly because of the financial benefits.
Michael Beaven, environmental sustainability spokesperson at the BCO, stated that occupiers and developers are becoming increasingly committed to going green.
He commented: "Sustainable buildings are better and healthier buildings, and in many cases are cheaper to operate."Mr Beaven added that developers are likely to keep constructing green office spaces during 2009. This suggests that the demand for eco-friendly office supplies and furniture could be set to increase over the next few months and years.
