HP to develop new digital inkjet printer

Office equipment company Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced that it is entering into a partnership with book press manufacturer Timsons.

The two businesses are collaborating in order to develop a new digital inkjet printer that can cope with a high workload without compromising on performance. It is also hoped that this could broaden the scope of the digital book production market and move it firmly into the mainstream. Aurelio Maruggi, spokesperson for HP, commented: "Our collaboration with Timsons is a natural next step in HP's strategy to move higher volumes of printing from analogue to digital." He added that the outcome of this project will open up a range of new possibilities for printers to optimise their supply chains, decrease waste and create new revenue opportunities. This comes after the company developed a prototype bendy plastic display screen in conjunction with Arizona State University.

It has been developed to allow a large screen to be rolled up into a smaller package, making it easily portable and freeing up extra storage space.
