Homeworkers advised to consider storage issues
People who work from home have been advised to make sure that they have plenty of storage in their office. Interior designer Nina Campbell stated that sensible shelving and cupboards is an essential part of making a home office a productive working environment.
Speaking to the Independent, she said installing a desk and a comfortable chair is also important, as both have to be fit for purpose. This, she continued, would help to ensure that a domestic office is free of distractions and allows people to concentrate on their work.
"A home office should be a place for proper focus," Ms Campbell commented. "[It] should be kept free of distracting elements wherever possible." She added that painting the room in restful colours, such as blues and greens, would create an aura of calm in a person's workspace.
This echoes recent advice from Aamir Ahmed, founder of contemporary furniture company Dwell.
Speaking to the Press and Journal, he said it was "vital" for homeworkers to ensure they create a good, ergonomic and practical working environment.
