Organisation vital in home offices, says design expert
An interior design expert has recommended that people who are working from home make sure their work area is well organised.
Judith Wilson, a stylist and author on interior design, stated that it is "vital" to make sure that any office space is smart and laid out effectively. She recommended that anyone who is establishing an office in their own home make storage issues a high priority.
Homeworkers were encouraged to get floor-to-ceiling shelving and an L-shaped desk to make the most of the space in the corner. Alternatively, Ms Wilson suggested that people arrange everything on one wall, with shelves, filing cabinets and a built-in worktop occupying the same area. She commented: "If you're going to be doing paid work from home, and may hold meetings there as well, then a smart, perfectly organised space is vital." This comes after homeworker Jane Hughes told the Independent that creating a good ambience in a work area is also an important aspect of furnishing an office.
