Office furniture should offer good support, says expert
An office furniture specialist has urged people to ensure they purchase a chair which supports their back. Greg Dunlop, head of a furniture manufacturing company in Boston, said the best office chairs should follow the curve of a person's spine and be easily adjustable.
Speaking to the Patriot Ledger, he recommended that users of office seating should be able to change the height of their chair, as well as the set-up of the arm rests. However, he added that that chairs that place a bar at the lower back to provide greater support are not necessarily the best option. Mr Dunlop commented: "That's not what you want - that's another pressure point." He added that chairs which adjust in height are important if a person's office desk if more than 32 inches in height.
The comments come shortly after Australian firm Sit Back and Relax reported a surge in demand for ergonomically safe office furniture such as chairs.
