SPICERS CONTINUES REVIEW OF OPERATIONS

Spicers, Europe’s leading wholesaler of office products, today announced that, as part of the ongoing review of its operations, there is a proposal to close the Regional Distribution Centre in Birmingham.
Spicers has commenced a consultation process with staff who may be affected by this proposal. It is expected that this consultation will be concluded week ending 21st February 2010.
Alan Ball, MD for the Spicers UK said “The proposal is consistent with our need to take the appropriate actions to ensure that our business remains competitive and we are able to effectively meet the ever changing demands of the market and our customers over the coming years. We recognise that this proposal will cause uncertainty for some staff and are committed to supporting our staff at this time.”
All customers who may be affected by the proposed changes will be informed as soon as the consultation is concluded.
Spicers wants to reassure its customers that every effort will be made to ensure deliveries and service continue as normal during this time.
