Date Published: 25/03/2010
After 20 years with Spicers, Stewart Barton-Taylor has decided to take early retirement from his current role as European Purchasing Director.
Stewart joined Spicers in 1989 as a Senior Product Manager within the UK Merchandising team. He was then promoted to Buying Director before moving into the position of Merchandising Director for the UK business. In 2001, Stewart took up the newly created role of European Purchasing Director.
During his time with Spicers, Stewart has made an outstanding contribution to many aspects of the business, both in the UK and in continental Europe.
Spicers will retain Stewart in a consultancy role for at least the next three years.
A replacement for Stewart will be announced in due course. For the interim period Scott Walker will head up the European Purchasing Team.
George Adams, Spicers CEO said: "Stewart has made an enormous contribution to Spicers' success over the years. We are sorry to see him leave but are thrilled that he will remain working with us for the next three years on a consultancy basis. This means that we can retain all his knowledge of the industry which is unrivalled."
Further announcements will be made over the coming weeks as Spicers strengthens the Merchandising and Category Management capabilities within the UK business.
