SPICERS STRENGTHENS MERCHANDISING AND CATEGORY MANAGEMENT CAPABILITIES

Spicers, Europe’s leading wholesaler of office products, today announced a number of exciting new appointments. The changes come as a result of the company’s focus on strengthening its Category Management approach, in line with delivering “Everything for the Office”. The following changes are set to take place and bring new talent to the UK Merchandising Team:
Director of Merchandising - Traditional Office
Greg Pritchett has been appointed Director of Merchandising for Traditional Office. Greg joins Spicers from Staples/Advantage where he was Merchandising Director and brings with him a detailed knowledge of the office supplies market. Greg will join the team on April 19th 2010.
Director of Merchandising - Technology and Furniture
Sarah Atkinson has been appointed Director of Merchandising for Technology and Furniture. Sarah has considerable experience working in an FMCG environment, having previously worked for Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Boots, all within Category Management trading functions. Sarah will join on April 6th 2010.
Both Greg and Sarah will report directly to John Fenton, Merchandising Director for Spicers UK.
Facilities Management - Merchandising Manager
Louise Thomson has been appointed Facilities Management Merchandising Manager. Louise will report to Greg Pritchett, the newly appointed Director of Merchandising. Louise was previously a European Category Manager at R S Components where she worked specifically in the area of Facilities Management product ranges, and again brings a wealth of experience to Spicers. Louise will work alongside Derren Stock, Merchandising Manager, as Spicers expands its Facilities Management ranges. Louise will join on April 26th 2010.
With these exciting new appointments in place, Spicers also has to announce the departure of Jamie Boomer, Merchandising Manager. Rob Harradine will move from his current position as Business Machines Merchandising Manager to take over Jamie's area and responsibilities as of April 19th 2010.
John Fenton, Merchandising Director, said: “I want to thank Jamie for his hard work, dedication and support and wish him the very best for the future. I’d also like to congratulate Rob in his new role and welcome our new colleagues to the company”.
